The wiring harness of a robot is often a very unusual beast. Different parts of the harness in very close proximity can have very different characteristics dependant on the requirements of a given circuit in a given location.

There can be wires of the finest gauge carrying mA signal currents or large power wires, driving motors to move heavy work-pieces.
There can be wires that are in constant flex (and therefore abrasion) and others that barely move throughout their life-cycle.
The requirements on robots can include extreme environments with temperature extremes and chemical hazards.
EMC is a further challenge, with wires often running in confined spaces and close proximity to emitting (or sensitive) devices.
And of course, operation is often 24/7/365.
